My Story

Running Is In My DNA

My running story starts the way the best ones do. A sleepover, a peanut butter Power Bar, and a one-mile fun run at a county track meet. I was a little kid tagging along with my babysitter, a high school cross country runner. I don't remember much about the race. But I still have the t-shirt.

Running has been in my family for generations. My grandpa was a sprinter fast enough that his records stood for decades. My mom still holds field event records at our high school. My sisters ran. I ran. I competed in cross country and track through high school, ran on scholarship at the Division II level, and have since crossed the finish line of the New York City Marathon and two other marathons.

I became a certified running coach because I had an incredible example of what it looks like to truly invest in athletes. The coaching staff at my high school, especially Coach Jeff Schember, showed me that dedication and genuine care for the people you coach changes lives. I want to be that for someone else.

But more than anything, I coach because I want people to challenge themselves and realize their full potential. If you run, you're a runner. Whatever your why is — it's enough. And together, we'll honor it every mile of the way.

"
Everyone has a why. My job is to help you find yours, honor it, and run toward it one mile at a time.

"Everyone has a why. Maybe it's your mental health.
Your physical health. A cause. The open road.
Or simply because you can. And so many people can't."

You don't need a race bib to be a runner. You just need a pair of shoes, some self-discipline, and your why. The name says it all.

Common Questions

You Asked, I'll Answer

Not at all. Coaching is valuable at every level, whether you're running your first mile or chasing a marathon PR. Your plan is built around where you are right now, not where you think you should be. Some of my favorite conversations are with runners who are just starting out.
Yes, I'm certified through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), one of the most widely recognized running coach certifications in the country. I'm also a lifelong competitive runner with experience at the high school, collegiate, and marathon level.
Plans are delivered through Final Surge, a coaching platform where you can see your daily workouts, log your runs, and track progress over time. It works on desktop and mobile, and I can monitor your training load and make adjustments in real time.
A tempo run is a sustained effort at a comfortably hard pace, typically around your one-hour race effort. You can speak a few words but can't hold a full conversation. Tempo runs build your lactate threshold, which is what allows you to run faster for longer. They're one of the highest-value workouts in any training plan.
The taper is the 2 to 3 week period before your goal race where training volume is intentionally reduced so your body can recover, repair, and arrive at the start line fully fresh. Feeling sluggish, anxious, or oddly sore during the taper is completely normal. It's so common it has a name: taper madness. Trust the process. It works.
No long-term contracts. Coaching is month-to-month. If it's not the right fit, you can cancel before your next billing date. My goal is for you to stay because it's working, not because you're locked in.
